Norwegian people in general, even with only a superficial knowledge of Norwegian pharmacy, appear to associate pharmacy with women. Approximately 4,250 are employed in 319 pharmacies throughout Norway. About 1,000 of these employees are pharmacists and about 90% of pharmacists in general practice are women. The remaining employees are pharmacy technicians, also with an overwhelming majority being women. This position has remained static for several years, and there are no indications that it will change.
