Four patients were each given a 400‐mg dose of sodium valproate (VPA) by intravenous (i.v.) bolus injection. Concentrations of the drug in plasma were measured at intervals, during the 24 h following the dose, by gas liquid chromatography and the data was used to determine the pharmacokinetic parameters of the drug in these patients.
