The study was undertaken to investigate the loss of nitroglycerin from various types of infusion equipment. The loss of nitroglycerin is considerable and has therapeutic implications. The loss can be reduced or avoided by using glass infusion containers, increasing nitroglycerin concentration and rinsing the system with the infusion solution before administration to the patient.
