The effects of two doses of bendrofluazide on the urinary excretion patterns of healthy volunteers have been studied. A 2.5 mg dose increased the salt and water loss without materially increasing the potassium loss. Doubling the dose of bendrofluazide increased the potassium loss without much improvement in diuretic effect. Adding triamterene at 25 mg and 50 mg to the lower dose of bendrofluazide did not produce either a useful increase in sodium or decrease in potassium loss over 24 h. It did reduce the potassium loss over the first four hours.
