Summary The accuracy of measurement of a 5‐ml dose of three liquids of different viscosity by medical and non‐medical subjects was investigated. Medical and non‐medical subjects did not differ significantly in their ability to measure accurately. A tendency to overfill the spoon with the most viscous liquid was observed and the variation within groups of individual measurements was disturbingly high.
