Summary The effects of temperature and relative humidity (RH) on laminates used for packaging unit dose forms were investigated. Aspirin tablets were used as a model and their degradation determined by a spectrofluorimetric assay. The laminates were found to be suitable for use under conditions of 25 o C and 75% RH but unsuitable under conditions of 38 o C and 90% RH. It is therefore recommended that each packaging material be tested with the particular tablet or capsule before large scale packaging is begun.
