Summary The hospital pharmacist found himself fulfilling a drug‐information role and produced impromptu systems to deal with his needs. It is argued that the designing and setting up information systems is a specialist's job (System Analyst or Information Scientist's), and that the information pharmacist should free himself to provide, and where appropriate, evaluate information.
