Summary Ten standard tablet containers were given to 200 outpatients with rheumatoid arthritis attending a regional rheumatic disease centre. Patients had difficulty in opening at least half of the bottles. The dilemma of producing child‐proof containers which can be opened by physically incapacitated patients is discussed.
