Summary Determination of lactic acid in perfusion solutions using an enzymatic method revealed that material of both natural and synthetic origin is available complying with the same pharmacopoeial specification. This, it is suggested, may have both pharmaceutical and pharmacological implications Lactic acid of natural origin can be identified by its optical activity.
