Summary The pharmacist's role in Spanish hospitals is changing from the classical old chemically oriented compounding expert to a clinically oriented drug expert. To implement the change new postgraduate programmes directed to hospital pharmacists are needed. We describe here the experience in our hospital with short courses on clinical pharmacy.
