1 Escherichia coli K‐12 plated immediately after heat treatment yielded higher plate counts on a minimal medium solidified with Agar Purified (Difco) than on the same medium containing Bacto‐Agar (Difco). 2 It was concluded that the heat resistance of bacteria can be evaluated only with the use of agar media that are known to be non‐inhibitory to the test organisms after heat treatment.
