1 The frequent occurrence of Torulopsis glabrata in calf rumen is confirmed. 2 The presence of this organism is not necessarily accompanied by ethanol production. 3 Ethanol is frequently found in the rumen of calves in the absence of T. glabrata . 4 In the absence of glucose the presence of ethanol in the rumen of young animals can be produced from lactose by a coliform organism.
