1 Two isolates of Entodinium longinucleatum have been cultured in vitro for at least six months in the presence of bacteria on a reduced buffered salts medium with the daily addition of starch grains and ground dried grass. 2 Cultures of Entodinium longinucleatum were normally maintained by dilution, twice each week, with an equal volume of fresh medium, but the protozoa would also grow from a 2.5% inoculum with a mean generation time of 1.3 days.
