Summary. A new unit (MF value) is proposed for evaluating conventional and very high temperature sterilization processes and its relationship to the F value is described. A series of new units ( P values) is proposed for the evaluation of pasteurization processes. Tables are given for the evaluation of sterilization and pasteurization processes using the method of ‘integration by addition‘, described by Patashnik, from temperatures measured in degrees Celsius.
