SUMMARY: Two testing procedures, B.S. 3286: 1960 and Kelsey & Sykes (1969), have been examined in terms of their reproducibility and ease of operation using different types of disinfectants. The capacity use‐dilution test realistically simulated practical conditions and gave reasonable results. It is recommended for use‐dilution assessments of general purpose disinfectants.
