Summary. A new antibacterial soap preparation containing trichlorocarbanilide (TCC) was compared in laboratory tests with a commercially available hexachloraphane soap and a control, nongermicidal soap. Both antibacterial soaps showed significant reductions in the skin flora, contact plate tests revealed no difference between the two preparations. In an 18 months ward trial the transmission of staphylococci was significantly reduced by the TCC soap.
