Summary An enhancement of the antibacterial activity of boseimycin against Staphylococcus aureus was observed in the presence of Zn 2+ and Co 2+ on a double gradient agar plate, but the activity was suppressed to a small extent by Ca 2+ . With Bacillus subtilis the enhancement effects were more pronounced, but there was no suppression with Ca 2+ .
