It is well recognized that admission to hospital is a stressful experience for patients, and little attention is directed towards helping patients to adapt to hospitalization. This paper reports the replication of a descriptive study which explored the patient's welfare after the use of a patient‐centred nursing approach designed to alleviate stress on admission to hospital. It also attempts to determine the patient's perception of the nurse during the implementation of the admission procedure, and his general reactions toward the admission procedure.
