The glycolipid fraction obtained by silicic acid‐celite column chromatography from the crude lipid extracts of different batches of rabbit meat has been studied. Thin‐layer chromatography analysis showed the presence of four glycolipids. Monogalactosyl‐ and monogluco‐sylceramide were found in wild adult rabbit and suckling and 70 days old New Zealand rabbits. Diglycosylceramide was not detected in wild rabbits and triglycosylceramide was only present in suckling New Zealand rabbits.
