Arginine decarboxylase was immobilized on a controlled pore glass beads derivative and assembled into a plug flow reactor. The catalytic action of the enzyme was measured with a CO 2 ‐sensing electrode. The enzyme action produced a linear response range of L‐arginine concentration from 3 × 10, ‐4 to 3 × 10 −3 M. The enzyme reactor in combination with a CO 2 ‐sensing electrode is useful as a new maturity assay based on the free arginine content of peanuts.
