The Image Analyzing Computer (IMA) was used to measure changes in the distribution of crystal size during crystal growth in lactose solutions of differing Supersaturation (C/C S = 1.3, 1.4 and 1.6). Also investigated were the effects of reaction time (48, 96 and 144 hr) and degree of agitation (static, oscillation, and rotatory). The data are discussed and interpreted in terms of the potential of the new technique for study of the crystallization process.
