SUMMARY The morphology and metabolism of seven radiation‐resistant bacteria isolated from fresh Gulf shrimp were studied to ascertain if radiation altered their characteristics. Radiation‐induced differences were observed in optimum incubation temperature, chromogenesis, carbohydrate and vitamin utilization, and action on litmus milk.
