SUMMARY Clostridium perfringens , type A, was found in 26% of bovine liver samples perchased from retail meat markets. Liver and bile samples from newly slaughtered cattle were also examined. The organism was found in 12% of the livers from newly slaughtered animals, and in no case in the bile.
