Summary. Aluminium release was investigated from a range of dental materials including several composed of aluminosilicate glass; with the exception of ASPA and Silicap, the release was negligible. The concentrations of aluminium released from these two materials were neither toxic to a fibroblast cell line nor to mouse peritoneal macrophages. Levels in the order of 40ppm were required to exert a toxic effect.
