Observations were made on urine scorch on pastures at North Wyke. Scorch was caused by cattle and by sheep and occurred sporadically throughout the grazing season in wet and in dry weather, but not all urinations caused scorch. Where ryegrass was completely killed, subsequent colonization was by weed speeies. A relationship was found between extent of scorch and grass N content and the scorching effect appeared to be on the root system of the grass and not on the foliage.
