There was a significant reduction in the seed yield of S26 cocksfoot in the first harvest year following undersowing in oats. Yields were markedly improved, however, by the application of extra nitro‐chalk in spring, by using a partial cover crop and by cutting the oats for silage. Over three harvest years the financial returns were very similar for all treatments studied.
