ABSTRACT The present condition of the pelagic communities of the far‐eastern seas is considered. From the beginning of the 1990s, significant changes, caused by a replacement of the climate‐oceanological period, have occurred in the structure of plankton and nekton communities. The current situation is assumed to be the beginning of a period similar to one in the 1940s‐1960s.
