Nurse training in Greece is available either at one of seven Technological Educational Institutes or at the University School in Athens. The oncology content of the curriculum varies throughout the country, ranging from 20 to 60 hours of theory. A test to assess the ability of 120 student nurses to care for large‐intestine cancer patients was carried out, and the results of this test are presented. Changes in nurse training in Greece are required in order to improve the preparedness of students for oncology nursing.
