Naturally wilted cultivated and weed species were collected from several fields in Kriti (GR) over the years 1992/1997, and tested by isolation for the presence of Verticillium dahliae. The fungus was most frequently recovered from cultivated Solanaceae and Cucurbitaceae. Infection of many known Verticillium hosts was confirmed, and the fungus was found for the first time in Kriti in pistachio and grapevine and in several common weeds.
