Frankliniella occidentalis has been one of the most important pests of vegetables in Polish glasshouses for 4 years. Investigations of the effectiveness of soil mulch with white plastic foil and foliar sprays with Nomolt SC 15 (teflubenzuron) and Dimilin 25 WP (diflubenzuron) were carried out in glasshouse‐grown cucumbers in the spring of two consecutive years. The results indicate that this programme, using either of the insecticides, could keep the pest population at the level tolerated by plants.
