Control of the mole‐rat, Spalax ehrenbergi , by Polytanol calcium phosphide pellets in field crops and hothouses was evaluated in 11 localities. A dosage of 10–120 g pellets per insert was needed to achieve complete control, in one operation or in 2–3 repetitions. The treatment sites were near mole‐rat mounds or near signs of new damage in the crop. The question of safety in hothouses is discussed.
