Single‐tube sampling systems may extract a significant proportion of the volume of gas in small enclosures, artificially increasing gas diffusion rates. A loop‐sampling system, which recirculates the gas through the enclosure, was designed to overcome this problem. A multiport sampling valve is described which allows a single thermal conductivity meter to be used with sampling loops to measure gas concentrations at up to three points in succession.
