Insects are concentrated by meso‐scale wind convergence, especially in tropical regions. The same effects have also been reported from temperate regions, e.g. southern England and Canada. Recognition and characterization of the meteorological phenomena involved would be a major contribution to the development of improved methods of forecasting and control.
