Aelia rostrata is one of the most important pests of wheat, barley and rye in Central Anatolia. It overwinters as an adult in the mountains. It has one generation per year, with five moults. Egg‐laying capacity is on average 201.6 in the laboratory and 163.3 in the field. Eggs are attacked by seven species of Asolcus and Trissolcus in Central Anatolia. In 1978, 26,000 ha were treated against adult A. rostrataand 1000 ha against nymphs (out of 4 million ha of cereal crops in Central Anatolia). Lindane was principally used against adults and trichlorfon against nymphs.
