Eight samples which were almost non‐susceptible to wilt were isolated from the many forms in the world cotton collection. All of these forms are wild or semi‐wild. Complex population varieties, especially those with varieties of Gossypium barbadense as ancestors, are also considered to be a source of wilt‐resistance. Diploid wild species may also be used in the creation of wilt‐resistant varieties.
