.1 Data are presented which suggests that the accurate determination of the age of tsetse flies ( Glossina morsitans morsitans Westwood and G. pallidipes Austen) in the field can be achieved by measuring the fluorescence content of the head capsule. 2 The way in which this can be achieved and further work which would improve the accuracy of the technique are discussed.
