SUMMARY Plasma PRL levels were measured during an episode of breast feeding in fourteen women on the eighth and 42nd post‐partum days. The results show that as lactation continues so the importance of absolute values of PRL diminishes, but the capability to secrete PRL in response to the suckling stimulus is maintained.
