Summary Antidiuretic hormone (ADH) immunoactivity (28–164 pg/mg wet weight) was detected in the tumour tissue of only three out of thirty‐two patients with carcinoma of the bronchus. All three patients had small oat‐cell tumours and two had persistent hyponatraemia prior to death. Serum sodium was not obtained in the third patient. Serum sodium was normal in the remaining twenty‐nine patients with undetectable ADH immunoactivity.
