Summary Appearance of purpura acutely after sun exposure is rare. We report a 51‐year‐old woman who repeatedly developed an asymptomatic petechial eruption on her legs after strong sun exposure. Investigation found an action spectrum within the ultraviolet A waveband, and histological examination of an evoked lesion found features of capillaritis. We briefly review the literature on solar purpura, and suggest that it is a feature of several distinct conditions, rather than a single condition.
