Summary Granulomatous skin inflammation can be secondary to a number of infectious and noninfectious aetiologies. Although the presence of Mycobacterium gordonae is commonly thought to reflect environmental contamination, infection can occur even in immunocompetent hosts. Proper diagnostic evaluation of granulomatous inflammation of the skin is essential in order to optimize treatment recommendations.
