Summary We present a normolipaemic young man with extensive facial plane xanthomas and xanthelasmas with a high level of lipoprotein(a) and possibly increased vascular permeability. These associations are of potential importance in understanding the pathogenesis of xanthoma formation and in the identification of patients at risk from coronary atherosclerosis.
