Summary Pompholyx developed in eight out of fifty patients between 4 and 12 days following admission to hospital for treatment of atopic dermatitis. Subjects with pompholyx were significantly older than unaffected patients. Onset of pompholyx did not appear to be related to severity of eczema at the time of admission, nor to subsequent reduction in the potency of topical therapy.
