Dorbanex® (danthron and poloxamer) is a commonly used laxative. We have recently seen four elderly patients suffering from faecal incontinence in whom reddish‐brown discoloration of the peri‐anal and thigh skin was associated with its use. This complication has been reported in the past (Bunney & Noble, 1974) but we feel it is not widely recognized.
