Summary A case of systemic amyloidosis with an underlying lymphoproliferative disorder is described. Nail changes, which included longitudinal striation, crumbling and brittleness were striking and preceded the appearance of other cutaneous lesions by a period of 5 months. A nail biopsy confirmed the presence of amyloid deposits in the nail fold and distal part of the nail bed.
