Summary Two women with recurrent, localized, bullous eruptions showing the histological changes of eosinophilic spongiosis are described. The natural history, and the absence of immunopathological evidence of pemphigus, distinguishes these cases from those described as a variant of pemphigus. They appear to form a separate, as yet unclassifiable, subgroup.
