Summary Five patients are reported who had cutaneous tuberculosis of the nose. All of them had unusual clinical or histological features that led to a delay in establishing the diagnosis. The purpose of this paper is to highlight several of these features that would have enabled an earlier diagnosis to be made. The differential diagnosis of lesions occurring on the nose is discussed. The possible mechanisms by which certain diseases are localized to the nose, is explained. The importance of a deep biopsy to obtain representative histopathology is emphasized.
