Summary Two children are reported who had the autosomal recessive type of ichthyosis, non‐bullous ichthyosiform erythroderma, and who were treated with topical steroids. Both developed features of Cushing's syndrome, which disappeared when topical steroid therapy was discontinued and emollients were used. We believe topical steroid therapy is contra‐indicated in this condition.
