Summary A clinical double‐blind trial of topical miconazole and clotrimazole creams was carried out against superficial fungal infections of the skin. The trial showed both compounds to be very effective against dermatophytes, pityriasis versicolor, Candida and erythrasma infections. Patient acceptability was equally good for both compounds.
