To identify the important questions in basic asthma research that should be addressed over the next five years and highlight these to people with asthma, the scientific community and funders of asthma research. To assess the extent to which previous questions are being addressed and identify any reasons as to why they are not being addressed (research capacity, problem formulation, scale and mode of funding or organisation). To include people with asthma in discussions around research priorities to ensure that further research will lead to relevant outcomes. To inform Asthma UK’s strategy for basic asthma research priorities over the next five years to move research closer towards the charity’s vision of ‘control over asthma today, freedom from asthma tomorrow’.
