The 1989 meeting of the American Thoracic Society was held from 13th to 17th May 1989 in Cincinnati, Ohio. As usual there were a large number of parallel sessions and this year more than 2400 abstracts were presented. In this report Tony Frew summarizes a selection of papers on asthma and inflammatory lung disease.
